Pothos is also known as the "forgetful plant" , because being a very resistant plant, it is said that it can survive even if you forget to take care of it.

The name Pothos comes from the Greek, however there are doubts about its true meaning, given that the term pothos represents the feeling of regret / pain / longing for a loved one that we can no longer see. As such, Pothos has taken on the double meaning of "longing" and "mourning" . The first meaning is certainly connected to the shape of its heart-shaped leaves, while the second is probably linked to the fact that evergreen plants are a symbol of eternity, but also because being a climbing plant, it is not uncommon to find Pothos on cemetery walls.

In some Pacific islands the long sarmentous branches of the pothos are used to make crowns to adorn the head and neck of widowers who get married again.
